ABOUT ME

What does this picture tell you? Well, for a start I'm not young, but I am happy!
I am very happily married to a wonderful woman possessing the patience of a saint. I have during my lifetime fathered five children. I have five grandchildren and there is always a chance that this number will increase. I still have a twenty-three-year-old son at home who, at 6' 2" is now significantly taller than me and not only keeps my wife and I on our toes but also straightens me out when I make mistakes on my website.
You may guess from my Château Sarony books that I have a great liking for France but, unlike Anna and Martin Price, I live in England and I do not imagine that will ever change.

I started writing purely as an attempt to indulge in a hobby that was not solely passive in the manner of collecting. Although I am a collector by nature, I needed to feel that I had the ability to create something - rather than just assemble or admire what others had already produced. I've no musical skills, nor am I one of those clever people who can paint, sculpt, or build things - so the field was rather limited. I have always been an avid reader, with a particular love of adventure and mystery stories, so I thought I would have a crack at reversing the position and see if I could put together something that I at least thought was readable. Having now written and published fifteen Château Sarony novels with a sixteenth underway, I am finding my time enjoyably taken up. Although both Martin and Anna are the main characters in the Château Sarony Series, Anna appears to have elbowed her way a little more onto centre stage than Martin. Because of her somewhat fragile character, I think I feel protective of her in an odd way - although, in the words of one character 'the woman can be really scary' - so perhaps that is the reason I've let her push her way forward!
The Medhurst novels have no connection with Château Sarony or any of the characters in that series. I wrote the first novel 'Spitfire Inheritance' as a short story for my own amusement several years ago when recovering from a major operation, before becoming fully absorbed in the Château Sarony books. A few years ago I remembered the short story, dusted it off, and decided to expand it into a full-length novel in 2017. During the subsequent years, I have produced two further Medhurst and Hagen stories and hope you enjoy them.

The Wilkinson at War series at present comprises two full-length stories but an insight into the origins of the principal characters can be gained by reading The Brandenburg Cipher.
Writing novels means that I can travel anywhere, either in the present day or back through time. It is a freedom I fully indulge and knowing that someone else has been entertained by one of my efforts is a wonderful feeling. It fulfils those idle thoughts of younger years - 'one day perhaps I could write a book.'
